To further deepen legal education and publicity for minors and build a safe and harmonious campus environment, on the afternoon of April 28, Tongfang Law Firm... Li Lizhi, Deputy Director of the Public Welfare Committee and Attorney And Secretary-General, Attorney Yu Liyuan I was invited to visit No. 19, Zhujia Subdistrict, outside the Third Ring Road in Hunnan District, at Shenyang No. 72 Middle School, where I delivered a legal education lecture to fifth-grade students on the theme “Carry Forward the May Fourth Spirit and Strive to Be Law-Abiding Young Citizens.”

At the beginning of the event, Attorney Li Lizhi introduced to the teachers and students the development history of Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm as well as the ongoing public welfare activities organized by the Tongfang Public Welfare Committee.

Subsequently, lawyer Yu Liyuan took the 106th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement as an opportunity to systematically explain the basic principles of law—drawing on legal statutes such as the Law on the Protection of Minors and the Law on the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency—and tailoring her explanation to the cognitive characteristics of primary school students. Lawyer Yu stated: “Youth are the future of the rule-of-law development. Cultivating in them from an early age an awareness of rules and a sense of responsibility is the cornerstone for carrying forward the spirit of the May Fourth Movement and building a harmonious society.”

During the event, students also asked questions such as, “Is it illegal to maliciously give classmates nicknames?” and “Can minors who have independently made live-streaming donations request a refund?” Attorney Yu Liyuan answered each question one by one. At the end, Attorney Yu offered this advice to the students: “When you break the law, the law is like a sharp sword; when you abide by the law, the law is like a guiding light. The wise protect themselves with the law, while the foolish risk their lives by testing its limits.”

This legal education lecture effectively enhanced students’ awareness of the rule of law by combining professional explanations, case analyses, and interactive Q&A sessions, thereby strengthening their conscious commitment to “understanding the law in our hearts and upholding it in our actions.” In the future, Tongfang Public Welfare Committee will fully leverage the professional strengths of lawyers in the public welfare sector, actively fulfill its social responsibilities, and continue to engage in public-interest legal education activities on campuses. We will actively guide students to become devoted advocates, conscientious observers, and firm defenders of the socialist rule of law. We look forward to each subtle yet impactful legal education initiative injecting fresh energy into the building of a society governed by the rule of law.
