With the start of the school year in September, it’s the perfect time to promote legal awareness. To earnestly implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the protection of minors and comply with relevant laws and regulations on minor protection, and further enhance teenagers’ awareness of the rule of law and create a positive environment for legal education, on the afternoon of September 8, lawyer Zhang Yuefeng, partner at Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm, and lawyer Yu Liyuan, secretary-general of the Tongfang Public Welfare Committee, were invited to Yaobao School in Xinmin City to deliver a lively “First Lesson on the Rule of Law” to eighth-grade students, planting in their hearts the “seeds of the rule of law”—the knowledge of understanding the law, abiding by the law, and using the law effectively.

During the lecture, Attorney Yu Liyuan fully leveraged her legal expertise to deliver a rich and memorable “first lesson in the rule of law for the start of the school year” to the students. Focusing on laws and regulations—and safety knowledge—closely related to teenagers’ study and daily life, including the Civil Code, the Law on the Protection of Minors, the Regulations on the Protection of Minors Online, and measures to prevent campus bullying, she employed engaging and interactive methods such as case analysis and Q&A sessions. Using plain and easy-to-understand language, Attorney Yu explained the law through real-life cases, helping students clearly understand legal boundaries and behavioral limits, and teaching them how to use legal tools to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.

This “First Lesson on the Rule of Law at the Start of the School Year” educational outreach event resonated deeply among teachers and students alike, receiving unanimous acclaim. The event not only effectively enhanced students’ legal literacy and self-protection awareness but also further solidified the foundation for campus safety and stability. Moving forward, Tongfang Public Welfare Committee will continue to leverage the professional expertise of lawyers, actively fulfill our social responsibilities, and deepen our efforts in promoting public legal education on campus, guiding students to become loyal advocates, conscious observers, and steadfast defenders of the socialist rule of law. We look forward to each subtle yet impactful legal education activity injecting fresh energy into the building of a society governed by the rule of law.
