To advance Tongfang’s specialized development and build the Tongfang brand, the 2024 Tongfang Professional Committee Construction and Exchange Conference of Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm was solemnly held on July 23. Attending the conference were Yang Xingquan, Partner and Director of Tongfang Law Firm; Cao Yuanjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the firm; as well as directors and deputy directors of various professional committees.

At the meeting, representatives from various specialized committees engaged in lively discussions and shared their views. They summarized the work done in the first half of the year and reported on their plans for the second half. Starting from their respective specialized committees, they expressed their opinions and insights on the future development of our institute and put forward a series of feasible recommendations. Committee representatives unanimously emphasized the need to actively leverage the role of specialized committees, mobilize all available resources, and organize as many professional forums and training activities as possible. They pledged to build effective platforms for lawyers to collaborate and exchange ideas, provide more learning and practical opportunities for young lawyers, and thereby support Tongfang’s professional development, enhance Tongfang’s brand impact, and promote the standardization of the legal industry.

Attorney Cao Yuanjun delivered a mobilization and deployment speech on the work of the specialized committees for the second half of 2024. Attorney Cao emphasized that today, the legal services market is undergoing tremendous changes day by day. We must not merely keep pace with the times; rather, we should advance alongside them. The specialized committees of Tongfang are the best testament to Tongfang’s strength. While continuously enhancing their professional capabilities, each specialized committee should also actively conduct market research, stay abreast of evolving trends in their respective fields, and promptly organize training sessions, conferences, and forums to share information and build momentum for innovative development within the industry. In carrying out these activities, it is essential to avoid formalism, constantly boost creativity, and strive for effectiveness. We must thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, genuinely translating the spirit of the session into concrete achievements that drive high-quality development at Tongfang. We must rigorously ensure implementation, keenly grasp policy opportunities, shoulder our strong sense of mission, and contribute to the integration of the rule of law and reform.

“No matter how perilous or smooth the journey may be, we must remain steadfast and endure even the bitterness of tasting gall. We must bravely shoulder our moral and ethical responsibilities without ever relenting.” In his concluding remarks, Director Yang Xingquan emphasized that for Tongfang Law Firm to navigate the new landscape steadily and sustainably, it must cultivate a strong brand awareness and a keen sense of competition. Heads of various specialized committees need to join forces and assume shared responsibility, establishing an inclusive system that integrates the firm’s internal strengths and resources. From a market-oriented perspective, specialized committees should deepen their alignment with both the market and business sectors, leveraging their professional expertise to enhance their market share. At the same time, leaders of specialized committees should place greater emphasis on appointing young lawyers—focusing on their capabilities rather than their resumes—and provide them with more opportunities to gain practical experience and hone their skills.

As Tongfang Law Firm marks its 25th anniversary, it will launch a series of activities and initiatives centered around this milestone, taking professional development and brand building as its core focus. At the same time, Tongfang will establish a comprehensive performance evaluation and incentive system to promote finer specialization, deeper professional expertise, and enhanced information sharing within the specialized committees. By strengthening professional development, Tongfang aims to bolster its core competitiveness and continuously inject fresh energy into the advancement of the legal profession.
