Tongfang Dynamics | Innovation and Collaboration – Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm Holds a Seminar on the Development of Young Lawyers

If you seek to make a tree grow tall, you must first secure its roots; if you wish a stream to flow far, you must first clear its source. In this era of profound and rapid change, the legal profession is also undergoing unprecedented transformation and facing unprecedented challenges. Faced with these challenges and shifting circumstances, young lawyers—playing a vital role within law firms—are brimming with youthful vigor, innovative thinking, and a spirit of relentless determination, carrying the future and hope for both their firms’ development and the advancement of the entire profession.

To effectively strengthen the development of young lawyers in the new era, proactively seize the new opportunities and challenges brought by the evolving situation and tasks to the legal profession, and further unite the strength of young lawyers while supporting their growth, Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm held a seminar on the development of young lawyers on October 26, 2025. The firm’s Management Committee and the Young Lawyers Development Committee jointly discussed ways to advance and innovate the work related to young lawyers.

At the beginning of the meeting, Managing Partner, Attorney Zhao Jing Speaking first, she reviewed the development journey of the Youth Lawyers Committee since its establishment in 2013. Over the past twelve years, the Youth Lawyers Committee has organized numerous high-quality events, including the “Listen and Decide” debate competition, mock trials, and fun sports meets. Building on these exemplary initiatives, the Youth Lawyers Committee should further reflect on how to innovate and adapt to the current needs of young lawyers’ professional development.

Lawyer Bai Siqi, Director of the Youth Development Committee She chaired the meeting and reported to the Management Committee on the Qingfa Committee’s work plan for the next phase. She outlined the innovative activities that the Qingfa Committee plans to launch next year and suggested collaborating with various branch offices to organize interactive exchange events. Under the guidance of the Management Committee, the Qingfa Committee will fully mobilize the enthusiasm of young lawyers, providing them with a supportive platform within the firm and enabling them to make their own contributions to Tongfang Law Firm.

Attorney Cao Yuanjun, Director of Tongfang Law Firm Speaking on a variety of issues that young lawyers are concerned about, Attorney Cao Yuanjun first introduced two key words—“youth” and “development”—and shared his own experiences with young lawyers, drawing from his personal development journey. He pointed out that young lawyers should first focus on honing their own skills and becoming highly specialized professionals; only after establishing themselves as qualified practicing lawyers can they begin to think about broader career development. At the same time, he encouraged young lawyers to broaden their horizons during their development, actively participating in industry and social activities to gain practical experience and foster growth. Drawing on the current social context and the state of industry development, Attorney Cao Yuanjun offered practical advice to young lawyers and urged them to remain steadfast in their convictions, seamlessly integrating their personal development with the growth of their law firms and the broader legal industry.

Partner Meeting Chairman, Attorney Yang Xingquan It is pointed out that the first step in the development of young lawyers is to address the issue of awareness: What kind of lawyer do we want to become, and how can we become an outstanding lawyer? Young lawyers must cultivate a broad perspective and a deep sense of commitment; they should make the most of the platforms available to them, cherish the opportunities these platforms provide, and strive for their own growth while serving others. In the course of their development, young lawyers will inevitably encounter numerous challenges. In overcoming these challenges, they must be patient and persistent, open themselves inwardly, and actively engage with the outside world. They should also proactively seek knowledge, learn from the successful experiences of others, and face all the challenges of their legal careers with an optimistic and positive attitude, aspiring to become exceptional lawyers.

Deputy Director, Attorney Han Ying Based on the specific tasks of young lawyers, we offer them numerous suggestions, emphasizing innovation and collaboration. We encourage everyone to come up with fresh ideas and contribute valuable insights to support the work of young lawyers, showcasing their spirit of proactive advancement.

Managing Partner, Attorney Wang Sicong Focusing on the two key words—self-discipline and opportunity—and drawing on my own career journey, I’ll share insights and propose a path of growth for young lawyers to learn from and reference.

Managing Partner, Attorney Yang Dawei Propose fully leveraging the platform role of the Young Lawyers College and piloting simulated training that covers the entire legal service process—from case discussion and filing to court hearings and post-trial summaries—so as to effectively enhance young lawyers’ capabilities in handling cases across the entire workflow.

During the open discussion session, young lawyers focused on the themes of innovation and collaboration, addressing several key topics—including professional training, policy support, career development, and rapid growth. Drawing on their own practical experiences, they actively shared their insights into the challenges and needs they face in their work. Members of the Steering Committee responded promptly to their questions, creating a lively yet pragmatic atmosphere at the scene.

After carefully listening to the remarks, Director Cao Yuanjun delivered a concluding statement. He first affirmed the effectiveness of this symposium and suggested that the Youth Development Committee should actively recruit more outstanding new members, leveraging the platform to harness lawyers’ talents, cultivate “brand-name” lawyers, and promote them to positions at all levels. He also proposed addressing development challenges through both internal and external feedback loops. At the same time, Director Cao introduced to the young lawyers Tongfang’s future development plans and key areas of focus, encouraging them to persist in learning and exchanging ideas to enhance their skills, thereby aligning with Tongfang’s future vision and adapting to the ever-changing market landscape.

This seminar on the development of young lawyers is an important initiative by Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm to listen to the voices of young lawyers and support their growth. Moving forward, Tongfang Law Firm will take this conference as an opportunity to turn the suggestions of young lawyers into concrete actions, continuously improving its platform infrastructure and institutional framework, and providing young lawyers with even higher-quality resources and support. With the joint efforts of the firm and its young lawyers, Tongfang Law Firm will remain vibrant and continue to advance toward a new stage of higher-quality development!
