To further enhance lawyers’ professional competence and litigation skills, on January 31, 2024, a training seminar titled “Avoiding and Preventing Criminal Risks in False Litigation” was successfully held at the Qingchuang Space on the 43rd floor. The seminar was co-organized by the Tongfang Young Lawyers Development Committee and the Tongfang Criminal Law Specialized Committee. The guest speaker for this seminar was Lawyer Geng Luhong, Director of the Tongfang Criminal Law Specialized Committee and Senior Partner. More than 50 lawyers from Tongfang participated actively in the training, which was moderated by Partner Jia Jiayu.

At the training session, Attorney Geng Luhong first raised the following three questions: “1. Where is the boundary between lawyers providing legal services and colluding in criminal intent? 2. How can we prevent and avoid criminal legal risks associated with sham litigation during the provision of legal services? 3. Given that the number of practicing lawyers has been increasing dramatically each year, are young lawyers fully aware of the hidden criminal legal risks of sham litigation that may arise in the course of providing legal services?” Regarding the issues that have generally puzzled everyone mentioned above, attorney Geng Luhong used analyses and explanations based on numerous real-life cases to vividly and realistically illustrate the criminal risks lawyers face when engaging in false litigation during their practice—helping attendees “avoid pitfalls.”

Attorney Geng focused primarily on “legal provisions related to lawyers’ practice in the crime of false litigation” and “case analysis involving lawyers in false litigation.” ”,“ Preventing the Risk of False Litigation in Legal Practice She will deliver a unique and insightful knowledge feast, drawing on her many years of practical experience and profound theoretical foundation, as she explores three major aspects. To help everyone better avoid the trap of false litigation, she offers three pieces of advice: First, stay true to the ethical底线 of the legal profession and never conspire in or devise schemes for false litigation; second, remain vigilant and develop “sharp eyes” to spot false litigation with precision; and third, cultivate good professional habits.

During the on-site exchange session, lawyers attending the event eagerly raised the issues they’ve encountered in their practice and engaged in lively discussions, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere. Attorney Geng Luhong generously shared her expertise and even presented books from her personal collection as gifts to encourage young lawyers—giving them to those who actively participated in the discussion.

The lawyers who attended the training expressed their gratitude to the Youth Development Committee and the Criminal Law Committee for providing them with professional training lectures. They noted that the training offered by lawyer Geng Luhong was highly specialized, packed with practical insights, and provided powerful guidance for their daily work, leaving them thoroughly enlightened and greatly benefited.
