On November 26, 2024, partners Wu Menglai and Wei Shiyu from Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm were invited by the Liaoning Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Dandong Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese to deliver a lecture at a legal knowledge training workshop for the overseas Chinese community in Liaoning’s border cities. Attending the workshop were Miao Dongmei, Chairperson of the Dandong Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; Mei Xue, Vice Chairperson; and Jing Wentie from the Rights and Interests Department of the Liaoning Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
Wu Menglai, a partner at Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm, delivered a lecture titled “Key Legal Risk Prevention in Contract Signing and Performance” to overseas Chinese community members along the border who attended the training session. Attorney Wu Menglai discussed frequently encountered legal issues during contract negotiation, contract formation, and contract performance, and provided a detailed analysis of key legal risks and preventive measures throughout the contract performance phase.
Lawyer Wei Shiyu from Liaoning Tongfang Law Firm delivered a lecture titled “Legal Risk Prevention for Crimes Involving Smuggling, Narcotics, and Tax Offenses” to overseas Chinese community members along the border who attended the training session. Through sharing criminal cases he had personally handled, Lawyer Wei focused on explaining the criteria for criminal prosecution and sentencing standards for smuggling, narcotics, and tax-related crimes, thereby enhancing the border-based overseas Chinese community’s awareness of criminal legal risk prevention.
This course received unanimous praise from all attendees, who noted that it had enhanced their legal knowledge in both civil and criminal law, providing substantial assistance for their future work and daily life.
