Carry forward the spirit of Lei Feng and gather momentum for progress.
“Theoretical cultivation is the core of the comprehensive quality of Party members and cadres. Theoretical maturity is the foundation for political maturity, and political steadfastness stems from theoretical clarity.” For Party members and cadres, fostering a fine academic style and strengthening theoretical education are both fundamental requirements for cultivating Party spirit and an inescapable political responsibility.
Tongfang Law Firm provides a learning platform for all its lawyers in the form of micro-party classes, aiming to enhance their ideological and political awareness as well as their spirit of learning and inquiry. By establishing a long-term educational mechanism, the firm has created a new platform for self-education and self-improvement.
If volunteer work had a color, what color would it be?
It might be a splash of red on the shoulders of the more than 332,000 “Wulin Aunts,” bustling through ordinary lanes and alleys, jointly building a better urban life; it might be a patch of green on the volunteers of the Zhiduo Ecological Conservation Association in the Sanjiangyuan National Park in Qinghai, walking across the snowy plateau and sowing the seeds of ecological protection; or it might be a dash of blue on the “Little Snowflakes” of the Harbin Asian Winter Games, shuttling between competition venues and showcasing the warmth and hospitality of the people of this ice city... These “colorful” volunteer efforts pulse with the vibrant spirit of the new era, embodying the rich meaning of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress.”
The innate instinct to help others, the spirit of Lei Feng, and the spirit of volunteerism are not only tiny sparks that illuminate those around us—they are also little flames that warm our own hearts. In Gaojin Primary School, nestled among towering mountains in Linquan Town, Qianxi County, Guizhou Province, Yang Ming, a volunteer teacher, followed the voice deep within his heart: “I want to do something meaningful.” Thus, he took root in the Wumeng Mountains, using patience and responsibility to open the door for mountain children, enabling them to step out of their remote village and into the wider world. While bringing light to these children, Yang Ming himself was also illuminated—by the knitted woolen shoes lovingly sewn for him by the villagers, and by the subtle yet profound transformations taking place in rural education. The spirit of Lei Feng and the spirit of volunteerism have never been one-way acts of giving; rather, they represent a mutual enrichment of souls. Seen from a longer-term perspective, these acts of kindness will continue to build up inexhaustible momentum for advancing social civilization.
The spirit of Lei Feng and the spirit of volunteerism are not luxury ideals floating high above the clouds—they are nurtured in every corner of our daily lives, accessible to everyone and within easy reach of all. From the young children who voluntarily serve as docents at the Urban Memory Museum in Hefei, Anhui Province, to the college students from Linyi, Shandong, who return home to capture precious moments for elderly villagers in rural areas; and to the “Old Poplar Lecture Group” in Yangpu District, Shanghai, which promotes the city’s spirit—practicing the spirit of Lei Feng and volunteerism knows no bounds of geography, age, or form. In ordinary days, a warm smile and a kind greeting, a patient answer to someone’s question; during times of crisis, a pair of comforting hands and an act of selfless help—all these seemingly small gestures subtly convey love and hope, weaving together the most beautiful tapestry of social life.
Promoting the dissemination and inheritance of Lei Feng’s spirit and volunteerism hinges not only on individuals’ proactive participation but also on the “precise, targeted” implementation of relevant measures. In April 2024, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Improving the Volunteer Service System for the New Era," outlining key tasks such as enriching the content of volunteer services, facilitating the matching of supply and demand, and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of services. To integrate Lei Feng’s spirit and volunteerism into daily life, on the one hand, we must leverage modern technologies to empower volunteer service—employing big data analytics, blockchain technology, and other tools to achieve precise matching between volunteer needs and available resources, thereby further improving the effectiveness and satisfaction levels of volunteer services. On the other hand, we need to actively refine mechanisms for recognizing and rewarding volunteers—for instance, through service points, time banking, and preferential treatment in various settings—so as to enhance volunteers’ sense of fulfillment and honor, thus laying a solid foundation for the sustainable operation of volunteer service.
Not merely a tiny spark, but a blaze that ignites the sun. In the grand vision of fully advancing the building of a strong nation through Chinese-style modernization, the spirit of Lei Feng and the spirit of volunteerism are not only acts of kindness performed by ordinary people, but also vital links that touch upon the well-being of the people—connecting, on one end, the urgent needs and aspirations of the masses, and on the other, the heartfelt dedication of volunteers. We believe that with the joint participation and concerted efforts of all parties, the spirit of Lei Feng and the spirit of volunteerism will shine even more brilliantly, uniting a mighty force that strives upward and does good.
